Proposed slide projection strategy for the period 2010-2011
Learning Space Support (LSS), within Learning Environments, is responsible for supporting slide projectors across shared learning spaces on Parkville Campus.
LSS will continue to support academics reliant upon slide projection technology for their teaching programs, within the parameters of available resources, known data about utilisation patterns, and industry advice regarding availability of spare parts.
- Learning Space Support will ensure that the best possible high-spec slide projectors are deployed and supported within appropriate shared learning spaces where high demand exists for this technology (principally spaces used by Art History). If the University relocates Art History to the Arts Precinct near Baillieu Library, Learning Space Support will review this strategy and relocate equipment in consultation with Art History.
- LSS will maintain a consolidated fleet of Kodak Ektapro slide projectors (and some "hot spares") to the highest possible standard (subject to spare parts and globes remaining readily available for this model).
- Learning Environments will assist academics with digitisation of 35mm slides, where copyright permits (a fee for service may apply in some instances).
Implications
LSS will support slide projection technology, to an acceptable level, within the parameters of known maintenance constraints, across 14 spaces:
- Architecture-103 [eZone]
- Architecture-135 [Chinese Room] (used by Art History
- Architecture-136 [Indian Room] (used by Art History)
- Architecture-142 (can be used by Art History)
- Architecture-143 (can be used by Art History)
- Elisabeth Murdoch-110
- Elisabeth Murdoch-148
- Elisabeth Murdoch-150
- Elisabeth Murdoch-Theatre A
- Old Arts-PLT Theatre
- Old Arts-Theatre B
- Old Arts-Theatre C
- Old Arts-Theatre D
- Old Geology-Theatre 1 (used by Art History).
LSS will manage the permanent withdrawal of slide projectors from 20 spaces where demand appears to be non-existent or very low, and/or, where projection is less optimal. The withdrawal will be staged according to the following plan:

- Arts Centre-317

- Old Arts-239B
- Dec 2009:
- Economics & Commerce-Copland Theatre
- Sidney Myer Asia Centre-Carrillo Gantner Theatre
- Jan 2010:
- Land & Food Resources-Lower Theatre
- Feb 2010:
- David Caro-Hercus Theatre
- David Caro-Laby Theatre
- McCoy-Fritze Leowe Theatre
- Dec 2011:
- Architecture-James Hardie Theatre
- Architecture-Prince Philip Theatre
