Lecture capture - getting started
Lecture capture is enabled in more than 80 venues.
Lecture capture is available for recording scheduled lectures/classes during semesters and winter and summer intensives; and for recording university events such as public lectures, seminar and symposia proceedings, and special presentations.
The service is available in the following shared learning spaces and meeting rooms.
Booking procedure
- Complete the online lecture capture booking form, preferably 5 working days prior to the scheduled lecture or event.
- A confirmation email will be sent, containing schedule details and the url to access the recording. Check the schedule carefully and report any errors or changes immediately.
Guidelines for presenters
- Prior to your presentation, review the copyright implications of using lecture capture.
- The recording process begins and ends automatically, according to the times scheduled from your request.
- For each recording session:
- Use the lapel mike (usually located in a drawer in the AV rack)
- Activate the touch panel control panel
- Check that the microphone volume control on the touch screen has not been muted - read the relevant touch panel guide if you are unfamilair with operating touch panels.
- The recorded presentation is generally available an hour after the recording is completed. During periods of peak load, recordings may be available up to three hours after the event.
Lecture capture and Desktop Capture
The Echo360 Desktop Capture application allows presenters at the University of Melbourne to capture audio, video and screen material on their personal computers (PC or Mac), rather than solely in lecture theatres. Presenters can capture, edit, save and upload the presentations created on their personal computers to their lecture capture enabled subject for online student access.
Lectopia Resource Centre
The Lectopia Resource Centre is a repository of topics related to lecture capture and delivery in the higher education environment.
