Turning on an iMac
The power button for an iMac is located on the back of the computer, bottom right corner - press the power button once to turn on the iMac.
Windows or OS X?
To start up the iMac using Windows XP:
- Press the power button on the iMac – it starts up in Windows XP by default.
To start up the iMac using OS X:
- Hold down the Option key on the keyboard and press the power button on the iMac.
Hold the Option key until the disk icons appear onscreen.

- Double-click the Macintosh HD icon.
The computer will start up with Mac OS X.
Ejecting a CD or DVD
The eject key for the CD/DVD drive on an iMac is located on the keyboard:

- Load your CD/DVD by inserting it into the CD/DVD slot.
- Eject your CD/DVD by pressing the eject key – there is a short delay between pressing the eject button and the disc ejecting.
