Student workshops (with wireless)
Student workshops (with wireless) feature multiple oval or round tables, each seating up to four or five students.
Students are allowed to use these rooms for informal individual and group work during the day when there are no scheduled classes.
Minimum equipment specifications
All student workshops (with wireless) contain the following installed equipment:
- Wall-mounted white-boards
- One overhead projector (OHP)
- Wireless coverage.
Access arrangement
Building supervisors will open these spaces in advance of all classes and events that have been pre-booked in the central timetable system. Campus security will perform this function during weekends and evenings, if classes and events are pre-booked in the central timetable system.
To ensure a safe and secure campus for all, Campus Security and building supervisors will decline to open spaces if there is no booking in the central timetable system.
Future plans
The capacity of these rooms ranges from 18 to 30. We regard 25 as an optimal target size for all new spaces of this type.
We intend to pilot a new approach to the utilisation of these spaces by allowing students to use the rooms for informal individual and group work during the day when there are no scheduled classes.
